Anindita Sengupta’s poetry has appeared in several journals including Eclectica, Nth Position, Pratilipi, Asian Cha, Kritya, and Muse India. Her work was part of the anthologies Mosaic (Unisun, 2008) and Not A Muse (Haven Books, 2009). She has performed at poetry festivals such as Poetry with Prakriti (Chennai) and Poetry Africa (Durban). Her first collection, City of Water, is in publication with Sahitya Akademi, India’s national academy of letters. In 2008, she received the Toto Funds the Arts award for creative writing. She recently received the Charles Wallace Writers Fellowship to University of Kent for the year 2010. Besides poetry, she writes journalistic articles on art, gender and travel and has been published in The Guardian (UK), The Hindu, Bangalore Mirror, Outlook Traveler guide books, Deccan Herald and Mid-Day. She is also founder-editor of Ultra Violet, a site for contemporary feminism in India.
